Purple Yumminess

Remember this stack of cut squares?

Which used to be this stack of Fat 8's?

Well, after taking out some of the greens, and adding in another cream and purple, I finally took the plunge and started cutting and sewing.

I had this momentary, "Egads! What have you done silly girl!" thoughts, but pushed them aside...

And kept cutting...

And sewing. Till a Dissapearing Nine Patch emerged.

Sixteen blocks later, and then the decision... sashing, or no sashing.

Sashing. Most definately a yes to sashing.

And I love it. I seriously cannot wait till it's finished. Now all I need to think of is a name. Any ideas?

Keep an eye out for my 100th post celebrations starting soon, and something I'm quite excited about, my "Focus on Colour" week. Coming soon. And maybe the Hexagon Swap.

That sure is one gorgeous combination for a quilt - funny I have a stack of fabric that looks very similar - gotta love purple. Sorry no help with a name, I'm stuck on trying to name my latest creation, he's waiting patiently.

I have no idea about a name honestly, but I wanted to let you know I really love those colors. Purple is a color difficult to get here in the Netherlands, but it does look nice in every quilt. But this combination, it is stunning, good job!

I like this quilt, I thought a name like blueberries and cream would suit. Love watching the photos of it evolve!

Hi Sam, what a stunning quilt. As I scrolled down and saw the pic of the single block, it didn't inspire me, but then the next pic of the whole top came into view- and WOW! It is just fab :0) My late friend Faye used to refer to anyone having good fortune, as "hitting a purple patch"- so I would name the quilt "Purple Patches". bye for now.

Hi, I have just come to your blog, via Anne, to check you out. I absolutely love the effect of this quilt - but I like it better before the sashing, it is STUNNING (I think so anyway) it also looks good with the sashing:o

Blessings

This is the first I've heard of the Disappearing Nine Patch quilt. What a great use for those 5" fabric squares I've been cutting from all my scraps! I am posting on my blog about your quilt. Would you mind that I 'borrow' a picture of your block to direct traffic here to see your quilt? Let me know if that bothers you and I will remove it. Thanks in advance. You've got a very nice blog. I found it through Dena's blog about your giveaway. How fun to find other great blogs by sharing links.
Have a great day!

Gorgeous quilt - you have inspired me to try a disappearing 9-patch. What size squares did you start with?
